Ice and friend

I finally was able to get ahold of our friends in KY today. Phew.....

Rhoda said yesterday her power was finally back on. She lives near the airport and I guess that is one area they worked on first. Once people heard she and her in-laws (live right next to each other) had power the people starting coming over for showers, stoves, etc. She also got cell phone service back.

She said while the ice is beautiful to look at it sure has done so much damage.

Her grandson who is 5 (maybe closer to 6) was so happy when he heard his Nano has water and power. He walked in the house saying ..."I am tired, cold and hungry...feed me" LOL He is a character.

Her kids were still waiting for their power and such to come back on and it sounded like it could be quite a while before it did.

She was telling me about a story of an older gentleman who the authorities went to evacuate (mandatory) but he would not go. I guess he told them he was old, dying of cancer and he was not leaving his house. I guess they fought with him for quite a while and finally left him. They were to check back on him daily. Sad.......

Joe and I went to Cuero today and had lunch with our young friend Brice. We also went to see his step dad and mom's new loft apartment. It still is not done but kinda neat. When they are done they are going to have a bar b que. Woo hoo that will be fun!!

Joe is working the next 3 nights at South West General.

He also has his nuclear test (muga scan) on Monday. I think I read that it will take 2-3 hrs, but that could be wrong.

Cleaning

Today Joe was supposed to be working on cleaning the back workshop/garage. LOL Oh dear he keeps getting side tracked. I think he is going to have to have several days of working out there :-) I sure hope he gets rid of LOTS of stuff. I know I have when I have been sorting through stuff in the house :-)

Sunny as can be here today :-) Temps are not too bad right now but going to get down to the 30's at night. Burr...sure is alot warmer then our family and friends have.

I tried to call my friend Rhoda in Kentucky today as they keep showing where she lives on the TV with a bad ice storm but no luck. Guess cell service is down too :-( Hope all are ok.

First haircut

WOW today is supposed to be right around 80. I just LOVE Texas winters :)

Joe is at the home health agency working this AM. He was hoping to get there early enough and out by noonish as we want to try to take a ride to Cuero today.

2 race cars are done and gone to their regular homes :-) Whew....now to get Joe's done and ready to race and the one he is building done. We "think" it might be sold when he gets it done. I guess the guy works on a drilling platform or something and is gone for the next month so he has a month to get it done. Man that would be NICE!

We may have some people come look at the house on Tues. Ack I need to get busy and get a few things done then. We need to stop procrastinating and get moved out of this house. While I am ready for change I also just do not want to be stuck in this house if something was to happen to Joe. We need to find a one story or at least for sure a house with the master bedroom on the main floor instead of up stairs. Smaller too but not too small. LOL

Trying to get a cruise going on Dec. 09. We are hoping to go with a racing friend but last night when he was here we had the date wrong so waiting for him to call me to give me all the correct information. Maybe if we go to Cuero I will just see if I can go see his mom to see what the information is. We shall see... Joe and I really missed cruising this month like we have the last two years.

Tuesday

Morning! Just watching a bit of TV while Joe naps. I am off to lunch with Anna and her boys, Joe seems to think he needs to come too so he can see the boys since we have not seen them in ages. Such a big kid himself he is LOL We are going to Longhorn Cafe, yummy!

Going to be 70 here today. Sun is shining bright :-)

A nice Sunday

It sure was a nice Sunday. While Joe slept (he worked last night) I went to brunch with a friend. It was nice to catch up with her :-)
Once home Joe was awake. Woo hoo! We decided to go for a walk as Joe is supposed to start getting a bit more exercise in hopes it will raise his EF %. Well we did not make it too far when we ran in to some neighbors working outside. Ooops so much for our long walk. It was so nice to catch up. We all wave often but do not talk too often.
Tomorrow is to be another nice day, maybe we can try the walk again after Joe wakes. (he is working tonight)

Good evening! Joe was to be at work tonight but I guess not many babies in the NICU and they put him on call. Kinda a bummer as earlier today the ICU had called and really needed an extra person but Joe could not commit as he was to work NICU. Isn't that the way it always works. So I sent him out back to work on the race cars for a bit this evening.

We had a long day yesterday. We headed out early for Katy Mills in Katy Texas. Shopped a bit then headed to our Dwarf Car banquet in Columbus Texas. MAN that was a long meeting!! We got the tires they have to run this year ordered so we should be good to go for a bit. From what I gather we have to buy this headset deal too this year so the track officials can let the guys know about cautions, junk on the track, etc. LOL I asked if us wives could have one too where we can yell at them about their driving ;-)
We had to stop in Cuero on our way home to pick up a few things for Brian's car. (Joe is working on it) Yawn we did not drag our rears in til almost midnight. We are pooped today!

Christina was here last night when we got home. She had come over as I had left a plate of ham, potatoes and ? in the refridge for her the other night and she forgot to come over. Guess she wanted some alone time too as she stayed for quite a long time. She also was doing some laundry. I do not know how that girl can stay up all night and sleep in the day. That would drive me crazy! You miss the nice part of the day that way.

We are trying to plan a Disney trip. We found out that Disney is letting service members (both active and retired) in FREE with a 5 day hopper pass. And they can also get a few more tickets at a discount price. We have been wanting to go again so we are trying to work it out. I think we will go the end of April/beginning of May before the kids all get out of school. We shall see how it all works out.

I am just hanging out today while I wait for Joe to get off work. He started training yesterday at a Home Health Agency here in Floresville. He will probably work there atleast 4 times a month. Gives him something else to go on his nursing resume. We shall see how he likes it. He said yesterday the people are real nice. Today he is riding along with a guy to see how things are done. Not sure if he will go alone next time or what.

We are out the door tomorrow in the AM. Have a banquet for Dwarf Car racing :-) Ugh though it is like a 2 hour drive to the place. We have never been to the place before but heard it is quite good. Other then that I do not think we have much planned as Joe has to work Sunday night. Maybe we can catch the new movie "Gran Torino" out at the movies. It just came out today and Joe has been watching for it.

PS> Too bad Joe cannot make good money out here at the home health agency. LOL It is nice having him be able to meet for lunch and not having to drive so far :-)

Joe update

Hello
While Joe feels over all just fine here is the latest from the DR:

Joe has to go to nuclear med and have a test done(first week in Feb I think)
It gives a real good determination what his ejection factor is
Then he has to go to CHF .....he is NOT in CHF at this present time but they can monitor and adjust his meds. His number is 38 and it should be 55-60
And eventually he will probably get a pacemaker

RAMPAGE

What a nice afternoon we had when Joe woke. We went to eat at Olive Garden where we shared Ziti. Yummy!
Then I had text message Michele to see what time I was to meet her and the girls tomorrow plus to be nosey and see what they were doing. Michele told me they were headed to the hockey game (SA RAMPAGE)as it was $9 for all seats today. Woo hoo sounded fun so off Joe and I went too. What a fun time we had! We WON 6-2!! I think we will go again. I signed up for their emails so I can find out when they are having deals.

Cannot believe it is already 2009! I always have a hard time remembering at the beginning of the year to write it on the bills. LOL Maybe I should put a post it note on my checkbook :-)

I was up at midnight :-) We had a fireworks ban in our county but I still heard a few. Joe said he saw a few when he was heading to work. Crazy people! I did not hear this AM how many grass fires there were...last year we had a ton! It is so dry here!

No new years baby at Joe's hospital last night :-( Years ago one of our nieces was the New Years baby. Now she is all grown and getting married next month.

I am going to run into Floresville I guess. I am looking for a new shirt to wear tomorrow. I have a hot date with Michele Kasper and her girls. We are going to the Trans Siberian Orchestra :-) Should be fun!
