Home from seeing Dad

We made a quick trip see my dad and Pam the last few days. I wish it was a few hours closer. We enjoyed our stay...had some good food, beautiful scenery and just an all around nice time.

We stopped to see Jim on the way home last night. He is at St Luke's right now as they operated on his neck. OUCH! They say though it was a successful surgery. A bit too early I guess to tell how much it is going to help. It was his birthday yesterday and he was getting some special treatment from his sister and wife :-)
We ran to Walmart earlier to get a few things for Willis races. I need to get a few more things but think we are headed to being ready. I do need to wash Joe's race suit. Plenty of time though as we are not leaving to Wednesday.
Watching the end of the NASCAR race boo hiss Kyle Busch had a good weekend. Race not over with yet but looks like he will win ALL 3 races. UGH

Phew we had a busy weekend! Friday we took the race trailer out to Shady Oaks Speedway so we could get a spot before the crowds rolled in Saturday. While we were there we helped Laurie do a few things that needed to be done before race day.

We were back at the track in the AM on Saturday to make sure they did not need any more help. I ended up working the t shirt table from like 1 pm to 1 am. I was pooped! I did see a few races especially Joe's races where he won the heat race and the feature race. We were really disappointed with the dwarf car count but still had fun.

Joe took me to Chilis last night for my birthday before he went to work. I had a yummy pina colada :-) He also brought me roses home in the AM when he came home from work.

Talked to Christina yesterday. She sounded good.

Headed to dad's tomorrow til Saturday

Busy busy

It has been a busy week. Joe worked 3 nights this week. Woo hoo! Maybe he can get 3 in next week too before we head to see my dad :-)

No working on the house this week at all. Some year it will get done.

Yesterday we went to Houston to see our friend Jim. Oh my goodness what a change from last week when we saw him. He moved his fingers a tad bit on the one hand and was moving his feet and toes. He had also stood in the AM but we missed seeing how they did that with him. Let me tell you TIRRS is an amazing place. From what we have read they have great results too. Joe was to get a motorized wheel chair today. Boy they are going to have a hard time keeping up with him once he figures that out. LOL He has to have surgery next week on some disks that they think might be causing issues still. His target date to get out of the hospital was Dec 17th but since they are going to do surgery it will be later :-( He wants Joe to be a nurse that will come over and take care of him when he comes home. We shall see though but I do know we will be helping him as much as we can.

This afternoon we went to the race track and helped Jim's wife and the guy who is helping her do a few things. Tomorrow is the benefit for them. We are so hoping they get a huge car count but hard to tell since other tracks in TX are having big races too.

Woo hoo finally

Woo hoo I FINALLY was able to log back into my blog. I ended up using a different browser. :-)
We have been so busy this summer with the house, racing and a few trips.
Racing going good. Joe is still 3rd in points with the club. He won a feature race recently at Shady Oaks.

Joe and I just got back from FL the other day from a much needed getaway. We had a nice time. Stayed on Disney property and just used their transportation system. Worked real good. It was neat as they had a boat we could hop on and go to Downtown Disney. We took it atleast once a day. I really enjoy Downtown Disney just people watching. Disney had an awesome deal for military what we used. Joe got in free for 5 days and I got in for $130 for 5 days. :-) Love those kinds of deals. We also went to Cirque Du Soleil. COOL! They also were offering a military discount.

We have been having quite a bit of rain this last month. We so needed it. Today it has been raining cats and dogs for hours now. We need to bring more dirt in as the back yard is still so un-level and collects water and then the mosquitoes come. UGH!
The house is coming along slowly but surely. Thought we might be in by Christmas but not seeing it happening. Hoping by March/April as we have several friends and family coming to see us from out of state. YIKES!
Off to Arkansas for a quick trip to see Dad and Pam next week for my birthday. A few days late but......
I will try to post more now that I have figured out a way to get in :-)

Sorry I have not updated all week. Time just flies at times.

Joe and the guys raced in Houston last night. You can watch his feature at the link below. Not sure why they did not have the heat race. Joe WON it :-) He took 3rd in the feature.

Crazy crash night in dwarf car feature

What a crazy night in the dwarf car feature last night. There was like 5 or 6 cautions. Every time you turned around there was someone spinning it seemed like. Poor Joe got spun around somehow (missed that part) and was a sitting duck and good ole Brice had no where to go. BOOM! Luckily both are just fine but their cars have a few issues. LOL I think Joe for sure needs a new nerf bar.

Brad had good luck though last night taking a win in his heat and a 4th in the feature.

News about Jim is he is improving...such a long road ahead for him. Race car drivers planning some big deal on Halloween to raise money for him and his family.

Hope the storms that are brewing stay clear so my cousin and us can make it to St Louis without any problems. (and they go way around Tammy's house!) I have not kept up with what they are saying just know they are brewing.

Joe hoping to work the next 3 nights but we shall see.

New Great Nephew

Blaine Westley came into the world at 8:43 pm this evening weighing 9 lbs 1 oz and 21 1/2 inches long.

Thurs.......tree down

Never did hear how much rain we had last night. Sure was raining good at times. We had a small tree that went down. Just what Joe needed was more things that have to get done. We need to get a new chain saw blade I think he said before he can take care of it. Took out the kitchen cabinets today. Joe and Brice even hauled them off to the dump already :-)

Waiting to hear from someone at Joe's sisters house as our niece went in the hospital today to have her new baby boy. His name will be Blaine Wesley.

Brice's dad had an old 4 wheeler that did not run so Joe brought it down here to see if he can get it working. They think they need it when we go to the races. Sometimes we have to walk quite a ways to go up to the track or when the guys have to go to drivers meetings. Will be nice to have in Willis in November if we park way out by the road where we are thinking about incase it rains and we need to get out quick.

It's raining it's pouring!!!!!! Woo hoo! And it is ONLY 72* out there weatherbug says. I need my long johns LOL

We got home right around 7 tonight and shortly after it started storming. Phew we timed that just right. I bet the dog is glad too as he does not like the lightening and thunder. LOL Sure I am the one who made him like that.

Jim had to go on a ventilator :-( I am wondering if they did that so he could be in a drug induced coma so maybe he can heal better? He is a very active guy, talks all the time, etc. Going to be a long road for him. They are trying to get a benefit race going to help his family out with expenses.

Saw Christina briefly today. She is good :-)

Tomorrow AM we are going to rip out the old kitchen cabinets. Doesn't that sound like a lot of fun? New windows are in and they will come put them in next week. Slowly but surely...LOL In a year?

2nd and an accident

The races were crazy last night!

I think Joe got second in his heat and then in the feature he took second. His car had a broken something or other so it held him back a tad. He sure tried to get up and around Dave a few times.

In the middle of the racing night there was a dash for cash against the track owner who also has a dwarf car. If you could bet him you would get $100. Jim was flying and ended up spinning but then got started right back up. He came around 1 into 2 when he went on 2 wheels and then the rolling started. It was horrible. He went way up in the air and then landed on his wheels. Joe ended up running over there (he did not participate in the race) when he saw how bad it was. While they were trying to get Jim out Joe held is head as still as he could and kept talking to Jim. It took them a long time to get him out. They ended up taking him by ambulance (Joe road with him) down the road where a life flight picked him up and took him to San Antonio to the Army hospital. When he left he could not feel anything from his nipples down and was in quite the pain. We have had no update today. Shock a lot of the guys up pretty badly, in fact Brad and Brice did not even race after that. Joe ended up making it back in time though and said Jim would want him to race so he did it for him. Amazingly I was nervous but I had been more nervous then that many other times.

We are headed to get something to eat in a tad bit then home to take a nap as Joe "might" work tonight. I think there is 5 nurses on the schedule so unless there is a lot of babies he won't work :-(

UPDATE:
They say Jim has a broken shoulder and a dislocated shoulder. He has yet to regain feeling but they say it is early in the healing process so really cannot tell what will happen. He is already telling his buddies who help at the track what needs to be done for the next races.
