Home from seeing Dad

We made a quick trip see my dad and Pam the last few days. I wish it was a few hours closer. We enjoyed our stay...had some good food, beautiful scenery and just an all around nice time.

We stopped to see Jim on the way home last night. He is at St Luke's right now as they operated on his neck. OUCH! They say though it was a successful surgery. A bit too early I guess to tell how much it is going to help. It was his birthday yesterday and he was getting some special treatment from his sister and wife :-)
We ran to Walmart earlier to get a few things for Willis races. I need to get a few more things but think we are headed to being ready. I do need to wash Joe's race suit. Plenty of time though as we are not leaving to Wednesday.
Watching the end of the NASCAR race boo hiss Kyle Busch had a good weekend. Race not over with yet but looks like he will win ALL 3 races. UGH

Phew we had a busy weekend! Friday we took the race trailer out to Shady Oaks Speedway so we could get a spot before the crowds rolled in Saturday. While we were there we helped Laurie do a few things that needed to be done before race day.

We were back at the track in the AM on Saturday to make sure they did not need any more help. I ended up working the t shirt table from like 1 pm to 1 am. I was pooped! I did see a few races especially Joe's races where he won the heat race and the feature race. We were really disappointed with the dwarf car count but still had fun.

Joe took me to Chilis last night for my birthday before he went to work. I had a yummy pina colada :-) He also brought me roses home in the AM when he came home from work.

Talked to Christina yesterday. She sounded good.

Headed to dad's tomorrow til Saturday

Busy busy

It has been a busy week. Joe worked 3 nights this week. Woo hoo! Maybe he can get 3 in next week too before we head to see my dad :-)

No working on the house this week at all. Some year it will get done.

Yesterday we went to Houston to see our friend Jim. Oh my goodness what a change from last week when we saw him. He moved his fingers a tad bit on the one hand and was moving his feet and toes. He had also stood in the AM but we missed seeing how they did that with him. Let me tell you TIRRS is an amazing place. From what we have read they have great results too. Joe was to get a motorized wheel chair today. Boy they are going to have a hard time keeping up with him once he figures that out. LOL He has to have surgery next week on some disks that they think might be causing issues still. His target date to get out of the hospital was Dec 17th but since they are going to do surgery it will be later :-( He wants Joe to be a nurse that will come over and take care of him when he comes home. We shall see though but I do know we will be helping him as much as we can.

This afternoon we went to the race track and helped Jim's wife and the guy who is helping her do a few things. Tomorrow is the benefit for them. We are so hoping they get a huge car count but hard to tell since other tracks in TX are having big races too.

Woo hoo finally

Woo hoo I FINALLY was able to log back into my blog. I ended up using a different browser. :-)
We have been so busy this summer with the house, racing and a few trips.
Racing going good. Joe is still 3rd in points with the club. He won a feature race recently at Shady Oaks.
(photo taken by Brenda Dancer at http://dancer52.dotphoto.com/CPListAlbums.asp )
Joe and I just got back from FL the other day from a much needed getaway. We had a nice time. Stayed on Disney property and just used their transportation system. Worked real good. It was neat as they had a boat we could hop on and go to Downtown Disney. We took it atleast once a day. I really enjoy Downtown Disney just people watching. Disney had an awesome deal for military what we used. Joe got in free for 5 days and I got in for $130 for 5 days. :-) Love those kinds of deals. We also went to Cirque Du Soleil. COOL! They also were offering a military discount.

We have been having quite a bit of rain this last month. We so needed it. Today it has been raining cats and dogs for hours now. We need to bring more dirt in as the back yard is still so un-level and collects water and then the mosquitoes come. UGH!
The house is coming along slowly but surely. Thought we might be in by Christmas but not seeing it happening. Hoping by March/April as we have several friends and family coming to see us from out of state. YIKES!
Off to Arkansas for a quick trip to see Dad and Pam next week for my birthday. A few days late but......
I will try to post more now that I have figured out a way to get in :-)

Sorry I have not updated all week. Time just flies at times.

Joe and the guys raced in Houston last night. You can watch his feature at the link below. Not sure why they did not have the heat race. Joe WON it :-) He took 3rd in the feature.

Crazy crash night in dwarf car feature

What a crazy night in the dwarf car feature last night. There was like 5 or 6 cautions. Every time you turned around there was someone spinning it seemed like. Poor Joe got spun around somehow (missed that part) and was a sitting duck and good ole Brice had no where to go. BOOM! Luckily both are just fine but their cars have a few issues. LOL I think Joe for sure needs a new nerf bar.

Brad had good luck though last night taking a win in his heat and a 4th in the feature.

News about Jim is he is improving...such a long road ahead for him. Race car drivers planning some big deal on Halloween to raise money for him and his family.

Hope the storms that are brewing stay clear so my cousin and us can make it to St Louis without any problems. (and they go way around Tammy's house!) I have not kept up with what they are saying just know they are brewing.

Joe hoping to work the next 3 nights but we shall see.

New Great Nephew

Blaine Westley came into the world at 8:43 pm this evening weighing 9 lbs 1 oz and 21 1/2 inches long.

Thurs.......tree down

Never did hear how much rain we had last night. Sure was raining good at times. We had a small tree that went down. Just what Joe needed was more things that have to get done. We need to get a new chain saw blade I think he said before he can take care of it. Took out the kitchen cabinets today. Joe and Brice even hauled them off to the dump already :-)

Waiting to hear from someone at Joe's sisters house as our niece went in the hospital today to have her new baby boy. His name will be Blaine Wesley.

Brice's dad had an old 4 wheeler that did not run so Joe brought it down here to see if he can get it working. They think they need it when we go to the races. Sometimes we have to walk quite a ways to go up to the track or when the guys have to go to drivers meetings. Will be nice to have in Willis in November if we park way out by the road where we are thinking about incase it rains and we need to get out quick.

It's raining it's pouring!!!!!! Woo hoo! And it is ONLY 72* out there weatherbug says. I need my long johns LOL

We got home right around 7 tonight and shortly after it started storming. Phew we timed that just right. I bet the dog is glad too as he does not like the lightening and thunder. LOL Sure I am the one who made him like that.

Jim had to go on a ventilator :-( I am wondering if they did that so he could be in a drug induced coma so maybe he can heal better? He is a very active guy, talks all the time, etc. Going to be a long road for him. They are trying to get a benefit race going to help his family out with expenses.

Saw Christina briefly today. She is good :-)

Tomorrow AM we are going to rip out the old kitchen cabinets. Doesn't that sound like a lot of fun? New windows are in and they will come put them in next week. Slowly but surely...LOL In a year?

2nd and an accident

The races were crazy last night!

I think Joe got second in his heat and then in the feature he took second. His car had a broken something or other so it held him back a tad. He sure tried to get up and around Dave a few times.

In the middle of the racing night there was a dash for cash against the track owner who also has a dwarf car. If you could bet him you would get $100. Jim was flying and ended up spinning but then got started right back up. He came around 1 into 2 when he went on 2 wheels and then the rolling started. It was horrible. He went way up in the air and then landed on his wheels. Joe ended up running over there (he did not participate in the race) when he saw how bad it was. While they were trying to get Jim out Joe held is head as still as he could and kept talking to Jim. It took them a long time to get him out. They ended up taking him by ambulance (Joe road with him) down the road where a life flight picked him up and took him to San Antonio to the Army hospital. When he left he could not feel anything from his nipples down and was in quite the pain. We have had no update today. Shock a lot of the guys up pretty badly, in fact Brad and Brice did not even race after that. Joe ended up making it back in time though and said Jim would want him to race so he did it for him. Amazingly I was nervous but I had been more nervous then that many other times.

We are headed to get something to eat in a tad bit then home to take a nap as Joe "might" work tonight. I think there is 5 nurses on the schedule so unless there is a lot of babies he won't work :-(

UPDATE:
They say Jim has a broken shoulder and a dislocated shoulder. He has yet to regain feeling but they say it is early in the healing process so really cannot tell what will happen. He is already telling his buddies who help at the track what needs to be done for the next races.

Weekend

It is the weekend already? Gosh where did this week go?

We had a nice Friday evening. Brad and Jenni invited us (Brice too) over to their house for dinner. Yummy! The guys of course talked racing :-)

Joe is out messing around outside already. Brice it to come over soon so they can do a few things to his car so he can race tonight.

Tonight is not a regular club race but the guys think they need to race so we are headed to Shady Oaks which is just down the road about 35 or so mins. I think all 3 of the guys are racing (Brad, Brice and Joe)

Getting anxious to head to St Louis in a few weeks! Hoping the weather is cooler then we have had here in TX. We have had 40+ days this year of 100+ temps and so far there is no signs of letting up. Yikes our electricity was not as pretty this last month. Thank goodness we are living in the RV! Brice's was crazy high!! (and the poor kid was not even home a lot...guess is brother who lives with him off and on sure likes it cold in the house)

I best get a move on here.....have a good weekend all!

Saturday results

We drove up to Willis TX Saturday to race. YUCK they had this sandy reddish dirt there and it had rained Friday night so it was nasty. The people were not real friendly there at all :-( We were impressed though with the ambulance guy who came right over and was asking how if there was an accident to get the guys out the best way. No one has ever come over and asked that.
Brice did great in his new car. He even lead his heat race for a bit. Woo hoo! He really likes his new car. Joe won his heat race :-)
In the feature Brice had some issues with his battery :-( When they went to start (maybe it was a restart) he died and Joe slammed in to him going over his tire. ACK! I thought he was going to flip but nope all was fine. Poor Brice though had to go off the track and did not get to finish. He was bummed. Joe ended up with a 4th. I think his tire is out of line (toed out or toed in ?) as the more he went around the worse things looked.
The guys are to race there again in November but I am not sure if they are going to go. We just cannot see how there will be enough room for all the cars that go to The Texas Grand (the races in Nov) And if it rains while we are there we are stuck. There is no way anyone will be able to get out of the nasty mud. We shall see.

No money has been transferred yet for the house :-( Surely in the next hour or so it will be.

Signed

Well we signed the papers today for the house. Since the buyers closing appt was so late the lender did not get the money transferred in time :-( So we wait til Monday. Supposedly the buyers realtor was told to hold the keys til the money is transferred, now whether that happens who knows.

We ate lunch with Christina today. She was doing well. We had pizza at our favorite pizza place in San Antonio, Big Lou's. Our favorite waiter guy was there working. He always has to give me a hug. (I think it is the owner son)

Supposed to race tomorrow night but we shall see. I am sorta hoping it will rain. Just a long drive...........

Dr appt

I had a DR appt today in San Antonio. Joe did not work last night so he went with me :-) Anyway....my labs came back just great! Woo hoo! Glad someone in this family has good lab work :-)

Saturday we went to watch racing with a few of the guys. It was good racing! They had another dwarf car club at the track. MAN they are slow compared to the Texana guys. I think Jim (track owner) said this club went like 70 miles an hour down the front straight where as they clocked the Texana guys when we were there close to 90 miles per hour. These guys ran street tires too where our guys do not.

Sunday evening since Joe got called off we went to see a movie. We have not done that in a while. We went to see "The Ugly Truth." Joe was worried about it being a chick flick but think in the end it turned out good. We laughed so hard in some parts I thought I was going to cry.

Tonight Joe is at work. Not sure if he will work as scheduled tomorrow night or not. We shall see.

Tried to see Christina today but she was running late for her DR appt and we had to get home so Joe could nap so things just did not work out. Maybe Friday when we go into San Antonio to close on the house.

I need to go find some sinus meds. Have a horrible headache :-(

Friday

The weekend again......wonder what our plans are? I know Joe is going to Floresville tomorrow to get the last of the little bit of stuff out of the house. Brad (a racing buddy) is supposedly going to help him.
Yesterday Joe rode with Brice to KS to get a new race car for Brice. Amazingly it fit in the back of the truck. They got home at 5 AM today. Bet Brice will sleep all day, I know for sure Joe will be awake before him.
Got our closing appt. It is next Friday in San Antonio at 1 pm :-) I guess the people will do a final walk through before then. After that I am sure we will go right down the road to the bank and pay the Cuero house off. Won't that be nice?! Now to just get some more things done in the Cuero house. Joe got some cards the other day at the local lumber store (guess that is what they call it) for dry wall people. He is going to have some come to give him quotes. Hopefully we can find one who does good work, does not cost an arm and leg and who is nice.
We are almost done with the stripping the trim in the family room. Just have the doors and a bit around the door frames. I think we then have to sand it and stain it. (after the drywall) Then I will need to figure out what carpet we want in there. Not sure where I will look for that.
Then on to the dining room area to start stripping that trim. Fun times we are having here :-)
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

WOW

WOW
Just got an email from the realtor. They are saying that by next Friday (NOT Aug 14th) the buyers will be ready to close! Guess we best get to Floresville to get that last bit of stuff that is there. Hmmm hope Brice or Brad will take a ride with Joe to get the stuff! I had planned to stop there on Monday anyway to get the few boxes I left in the kitchen.

Guy is here measuring for new windows. OUCH do not want to see the quote for that. But sure will be nice to have them. I just checked though and I am not the happiest that the one window cannot be like I wanted it. Oh well.....such is life in an old house. Nothing is perfect :-) Guess it just goes with us as we are not perfect either.

FINALLY got my DR appt scheduled. I go in Aug 21st. Hope I feel ok the 22nd as the guys go to Houston that day to race and I hate to get left behind! LOL

Sirens have been flying down the road the last hour. I wonder what is going on? Must be an accident as several ambulances have gone. Usually when they go by they are going to the old folks home that is next to Walmart.

Joe going in to work for a few hours once the window guy leaves. He should be home around 10 pm though so that is not too bad. He was supposed to go train tomorrow for the PEDS agency but they decided not to have him come in again. I am not sure if this agency is going to work like we had hoped :-(

Monday

Phew got the internet back :-) A storm blew in Friday afternoon and lightening hit the pecan tree. I guess it messed up our modem too as we have not had internet since. A real cute ATT guy came today and got it all working again :-)

Friday night after the storm blew by we went to dinner with Brice then to a rodeo up at the city park. Man it sure was not comfortable sitting on the wet bleachers :-( It was fun though to watch. I guess they have not been in town for like 5 yrs. Sure would be neat if they started coming to Cuero again. I think Brice was telling us they go to Victoria often.

Saturday the guys raced in Edna. Joe won his heat race! :-) The feature was running second and a time first til a restart :-( Then he got a bad start and was pushing too hard in a corner and spun out. He did finish the race but in 10th. Sigh......

Sunday Joe and I went to Victoria. Checked out Home Depot and Lowes. Then ate at Texas Roadhouse. Joe was off last night as he had a class all day today. He is off tonight too. I am HOPING they do not cancel him Tuesday night as that won't be too nice of a paycheck if he only has his class on there.

Looks as if it may rain. Need to go check the radar and see what is out there. I know north west of San Antonio there had been some but not too sure which was it was going to head.

OH also on Friday our friend Michele Kasper and her girls stopped by for a bit. It was nice to see them again. Did I tell yall I am going on a cruise with her, the girls and her mom in March? Yep and Joe is staying home. Hope my anxiety does not get the best of me

Hope all are having a good start to the week!

Lookie!

Look what the sign at the Floresville house says!
Now if we can just stand the wait til Aug 14th when we are to close
We need to make 1 or 2 more trips then it is empty. The refridge and Grandfather clock are still there and some other big item. Joe is hoping to get a friend to go with him Sunday to get that. Maybe he will get the few things I have in the kitchen boxed up too and I won't have to stop there when I go into San Antonio in a week and a half for a Dr appt :-) Now that would be a nice husband.

Poor sad crashed race car LOL

Yawn ....Sunday

We went to Highlands TX last night for the guys to race. Joe ended up taking 6th with his buddies Brad taking 5th and Brice taking a 7th. Joe was a crazy driving in the feature. He scrapped the wall on the front stretch with sparks flying and also lost it going through a turn and spun then got hit by a guy. LOL His tire was all out of whack but he still finished the race. He so loves racing! You can go here and see some of the race. The guy really did not show the whole field of who was racing http://www.ustream.tv/flash/video/1792953

WOW I just saw Mark Martin won the NASCAR race. He sure is having a good year.

Joe is off to work tonight :-) He is scheduled his normal 3 but we shall see. Lately he has been getting 5 shifts per two weeks which is not too bad but I sure would like that extra night some pay periods. Will be so nice not to have a house payment to take out of paychecks although I have a feeling we will have a new car payment to take its place. LOL Seems everyone is drooling over the camaros just waiting to see who will get one first.

Allergy issues today bad. UGH!

Well I am off to check a load of wash I started. Then to wait to see if I am going to do anything else tonight. Might ride over to Victoria if Brice stops by and is taking Brad's car to him and wants some company. We shall see. Definitely headed to bed early since we did not get home til 3:45 AM

House and HOME

Our Navy friend Mitch came home yesterday from his 6 months out to see on the USS Stennis. Isn't this a good picture of him and Elina Michelle :-) Got word from the realtor that the new buyers only want 1 thing fixed. Woo hoo! Waiting to hear from him to call Joe so we can see exactly how we can fix the problem. There is several ways. I think we are do to close around Aug. 14th. I need to get the papers out and see.

We are off to Highlands around noon. Meeting our friends Brad and Jenni at Olive Garden in Victoria to eat before we head out. I hate the 3 hour drive, especially after the races. Hopefully this weekend there are NO crashes.

Have a great weekend!

Waiting waiting....

Heard from the realtor today. They did the inspection yesterday (WOW would of been nice to know this) and now the buyers are supposedly looking over it tonight and deciding what to do. Nothing major was wrong so that is good. :-) Should know something tomorrow I guess.

Today is our God-daughters 4th birthday. Gosh I cannot believe 4.....
We saw Christina for a bit today. She is good it seemed.
AND the best news is from the cardio. dr. He was SO pleased with Joe's labs and such. He told Joe whatever he is doing to keep it up. LOL Joe tried to tell me too that Dr M told him racing was the best medicine and he needs to do it more. So for now....Joe is doing GREAT!!!!!
One of the young girls that stops by here every so often just sent me a message one of her twins is in the hospital and the other might be right behind him. :-( They are like 9 months old. Poor little things were pre mature and have been sick I think pretty much off and on since then. I might go check on them tomorrow as they are right here in Cuero.
